THEME:-TRAINING BY EMINENT PROFESSIONALS ON

                FIRE AND SAFETY 

FIRE AND SAFETY CLASS

A class on fire and safety was conducted by fire and rescue services department, Govt. of Kerala on 17 July, 2015 for the students of class VI, VII &VIII.The class was an interactive one of 2.5 Hours duration while taking care that maximum number of them actively participates in the class. The topics that were covered included the fire triangle, reasons for fire, types of fire extinguishers, their places of use, how to use the fire hydrant etc. The training also covered certain portions of disaster management.

The training class was highly effective for the young buds of the above class. Each and every child actively participated in the class with high level of enthusiasm. 


The P-A-S-S technique for fire extinguisher use:

P - Pull the pin.  It is there to prevent accidental discharge.

A - Aim low at the base of the fire.  This is the where the fuel source is.

S - Squeeze the lever above the handle.  Release to stop the flow.
     

S - Sweep from side to side.  Move toward the fire, aiming low at its base.  Sweep until all flames are extinguished.  Watch for re-igniting.  Repeat as necessary.  Have site inspected by fire department.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2014

  Vigilance Awareness week was observed in the Vidyalaya from 27th Oct. 2014 To 1st Nov. 2014 On the first day, Principal and all the staff members took the pledge. A banner was displayed at the entrance of the Vidyalaya to make every one aware of the Vigilance Awareness Week. Mr. P.G Mathew , TGT (WE) delivered a speech  on  30th Oct. 2014in the morning assembly on the topic    Combating Corruption- Technology as an enabler “. He discussed about the different spheres in which corruption takes place and suggested some ways to curb it. At the end of his speech he asked a few questions to the students and they responded very accurately .Further Vinayak.S a student of class VIth delivered a speech in the morning assembly on Vigilance Awareness Week.

                                                        A symposium was conducted in class IX on topic ‘e-procurement- an effective way of increasing transparency’. Class VI students wrote slogans on “ Root out Corruption before it roots in you “ . A debate was also conducted in class VI on  “ e- Ticketing has been effective in reducing corruption from booking system”.  Overall, the week long program was successful in creating awareness in the students as well as the employees.

  

 

 

Celebration of National Unity Day

 

National Unity Day was celebrated on 31st Oct. 2014 in the Vidyalaya. An inspirational speech was delivered  byone of the staff members, during the morning assembly which focused on the noteworthy contribution of SardarVallabhaBhai Patel, in the freedom struggle as well as in the unification of the princely states to form a united India.

 

                                        This was followed by ‘RashtriyaEkataDiwas pledge’ administered to the whole school by Reshma .M of Class IX.

After this , there was a Unity Run by the entire Vidyalaya. The students dressed in their  P.T uniform stood together lending a spectacular visual treat. The Unity Run was flagged off by the Principal.Theprogrammes ended with the singing of National Anthem.

  

   

  

 

 

 

SWACHH VIDYALAYA ABHIYAN

Report on the activities conducted

                SwachhVidyalayaAbhiyan was launched in KV Kollam on 25/sep/2014 by organizing a one hour motivational programme as instructed by KVS(HQ).The Special event in the morning assembly was a very inspirational speech delivered by  Dr. SreejithGopalan, TGT science.Through his speech , he made   the children  aware   of the SwachhVidyalayaAbhiyanprogramme and briefed them on the objectives of the programme and the various activities planned for the period 25 sept 2014 to 31-10-2014 and onwards. After the morning assembly , different areas were allotted to different classes for cleaning. Children participated in the programme with great vigour    and enthusiasm. They cleaned the school garden the front-yard of the computer lab as well as Biology lab. They have also dusted and cleaned all the display board infront of the office. The boys and girls of secondary section cleaned the area near the volleyball court. The staff members also joined the programmeby assisting the students and giving guidance. The photographs were taken in three phases-  before the cleaning, during the cleaning and after the cleaning. Overall, the one hour motivational programme was a huge success and it did succeed in conveying the message of the Cleanliness Drive .

 

In compliancewith the letter no.F-31/swacch/KVROEKM/2014 dtd 30/09/2014 from the Hon’ble DC , a number of activities were conducted on the re-opening day as a part of SwacchVidyalayaAbhiyan.Theprogramme started with the pledge ceremony conducted during the morning assembly.Miss.Reshma M a student of class IX administered the pledge to the entire school. The students and staff took the pledge to support this great venture .This was followed by an essay writing competition held for all the classes on the topic ‘How +can we make our nation clean’. A cleanliness drive was conducted in the afternoon section during which the students of senior classes cleaned a rectangular area behind the school building .Further the students are instructed to decorate their class display boards   with write-ups,posters and painting on the theme of cleanliness.Greaded topics based on cleanliness and pollution were given classes VI-XII as the theme of the class display board .The Primary students made painting on the topic ‘My clean school’.The students of the vidyalaya  are participating with great zest and enthusiasm in all the programmes held in connection with ‘SwacchVidyalayaAbhiyan’

On 25th Oct. 2014 a Hindi  Elocutionwas conducted as a part of CCA with the theme “ Swaach Bharat Abhiyan”.

On 27th October 2014, The students of class IX conducted a cleanliness drive. They cleaned the area near the Gate of the Vidyalaya and a patch of land covered with grass in the playground.

On 28th October, Running Trophy was given to the winners  - class X & class II for the best class display board on “ SwaachVidyalayaAbhiyan “ and for maintaining perfect cleanliness in the class room.

The students are participating in this programme with great vigourand interest
